Google is killing a section of desktop search that was a target of ‘fake news’ criticism

Google’s “In the News” feature that was often seen shown in the primary search results as a 3 article media section is being phased out. It’s replacement “Top Stores” has been available on Google mobile search results for some time and will make for a more cohesive experience between devices. The new naming convention should also help curb the negative publicity Google, among others, has received for fake news.

Open sourcing the Embedding Projector: a tool for visualizing high dimensional data

Google is now allowing open source access to the Tensorboard visualizer, called Embedding Projector. As machine learning continues to be a hot topic among, this tool finds its usefulness in it’s ability to explore and interact with high-dimensional data. This includes a standalone version that doesn’t need Tensorflow to be installed or run. These embeddings, or vectors, of different dimensions allow for machines to begin programmatically learning natural language.

Tactical Keyword Research in a RankBrain World

Google’s RankBrain is a way of measuring relativity, based on machines learning the relationships between words. This effectively provides an automated way to gather contextual relevance. This should change SEOs approach to keyword research, if it hasn’t already.
